Northeast Power and Energy Conference (NEPEC)

Special Live Virtual Event

Join us for the 7th Annual Northeast Power and Energy Conference (NEPEC). Due to COVID19 concerns, this year's event will be virtual. The program is stacked with great presentations, multiple interviews, chat sessions, panel sessions, and a virtual happy hour.

As in the past, NEPEC's mission is to foster a special community of power professionals in the Northeast. This event continues to provide professionals from industry, academia, utilities, government, and manufacturers an opportunity to exchange knowledge on systems, equipment, and designs responsible for generating, transmitting, and distributing electric power. It also provides the latest updates on industry regulations and standards.

The main program is a two-day event with morning and afternoon sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. We are excited to announce that we will be offering four optional tutorials. The tutorials will be scheduled on Tuesday before the conference begins. See additional information below.

Optional Tutorials

This year we are proud to have a total of four live virtual tutorials. You can choose to attend one of the tutorials in the morning and one in the afternoon. 

You will learn the latest trends and topics from the industry experts with time to ask questions of them as well. Below are the four tutorials:

  • Software-defined networking presented by Schweitzer Engineering Labs to learn enhances the cybersecurity of the network through packet inspection and example of an implementation using GOOSE in a real-world application for industrial control systems and electrical substations, presented by Schweitzer Engineering Labs
  • Learn about Distributed Energy Resource (DER) project analysis, presented by RLC to help determine impacts
  • Live Transformer Testing at the OMICRON Training Center, presented by OMICRON. All standard electrical field tests will be performed, including safety recommendations, test preparations, connection demonstrations, and the analysis of the results.
  • Learn the networking concepts necessary to apply IEC 61850 technologies in the substation successfully presented by OMICRON.

Mission Statement

To provide a regional forum where professionals from industry, academia, utilities, government, and manufacturing share and exchange knowledge on systems responsible for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power. The sharing of information at this conference will help attendees and their organizations become more competitive, efficient, and successful in their efforts. The conference will provide many networking opportunities to facilitate collaboration amongst attendees creating a special and unique electric power community.
